Situation
Syntricity built enterprise SaaS for engineering analytics in the semiconductor industry — a technically demanding space where customers run enormous data volumes. Their legacy product, AMP, had fallen behind: it couldn't handle the scale (3 billion measurements and 3,000 files per day for their largest client), the UI was rigid and outdated, and there was no flexible way to perform the kind of detailed and summary analysis customers needed. The company was losing clients quarterly. A complete product rebuild was the only path forward — but semiconductor analytics is a narrow, specialized domain with very little tolerance for a product that doesn't match how engineers actually work.
Task
Define, spec, and drive the build of an entirely new product suite — J2EE-based, modern, flexible — that could handle 10 million+ data points with a UI that matched real semiconductor engineering workflows. The scope covered multiple products: AMP, RaCR, SYM, and a new data warehouse layer.
Action
Started with deep needs assessment: direct customer visits and internal team sessions to understand exactly how engineers used the data and where the legacy product failed them. From that foundation, wrote 27 Product Requirements Documents covering the full new product suite — each PRD defining the interface, workflow, data structures, and use cases for a specific product or module. Managed Agile development across 10+ software and database engineers throughout the build. Alongside the product work, developed sales tools and customer-facing presentations that helped the market understand the differentiated new capabilities — accelerating the sales cycle for the replacement product.
Result
The new product suite replaced the failing legacy platform across the product line. The company returned to cash flow positive. Customer losses stopped.
